July 4th, 1978              Tuesday

A happy fourth of July, despite the rain and coolness. I took advantage of the free time to go down to Greenwich Village to view some of the scenes I want to paint there. I really like that area very much. Instead of Pennyfeathers, I choose a drugstore called Village Cigars to do, more color and variety.....The store, around 7th and Grove, is bright red, with lots of lettering and different signs, a subway stop is next to it. It is quite typical of New York City.
