November 16th, 1998         Monday

Saturday I headed up to Ghost Ranch to do charcoal drawing, which I've already transferred  to a lino block. The drive up to Ghost Ranch was beautiful, and much needed. I took the longer route, heading up 44 through San Ysidro, Cuba, Gallina, Coyote, and across the Abiquiu Dam. The sun was out, the sky a deep, crisp, crystal blue, and the mesas and ridges deep red, yellow, orange, with layers of white and blue. The trip took longer than I thought it would, tho I arrived happily at Ghost Ranch, and immediately set to work, getting down the basics in charcoal. This morning I transferred the charcoal to the sheet of linoleum and reworked it again with soft vine charcoal. It's going to turn out to be a nice print - may just print it out on rice paper.
