I've gotten a wonderful idea for a new work. While travelling by train to work in the morning, I happened to be in the first car. As I watched the train head downtown from Grand Central to 33rd St., as it passed through a round tunnel passage, it struck me that it was like a journey through the unconscious. These particular subway stops are the neurotic conflicts, desires, needs, thwarted emotional wants and the people there those who either began them or are reminders of them, experiences had which infect and give rise to these reoccurring conflicts and desires. This is what it is like. Anyway, the scene about midway between those two stops gave rise to a new artwork I am just drawing out. It'll be good. All I can think while travelling in the first car looking out was, 'Amazing. It's a journey through the unconscious.'
