I took Thursday and Friday off, going to the Casamero Pueblo Ruins near Prewitt to do a landscape there. Thursday, Friday and Saturday I travelled out there on I40, hammering out this painting in the heat of the sun, this morning put on the final touches, refining a few areas. This painting is a real accomplishment, I absolutely captured the colors of New Mexico in it! Driving out there, heading up the hill to the foot of the mesa, working away in the heat, then heading back, then up early again on the road at 8AM, all for three days - it tired me, but it was a good tired! I needed to get out, get away, hit the open road, explore some new territory.
