After finishing the Berlioz biography by David Cairns, I reread King Lear by Shakespeare, and enjoyed that. I then reread the collection of short stories by Emile Zola, The Attack on the Mill and Other Stories, World's Classics Edition. Zola is great! A true Naturalist, with just the right dash of ironic cynicism. Having read art/lover, A Biography of Peggy Guggenheim by Anton Gill, I ordered Peggy's book, Confessions of an Art Addict. What a woman, Peggy is a true original! Reading this book, it's just like Peggy, I'm sure - direct, forthright and highly personal!
I took Wednesday - Friday off, I'm working on a wonderful piece - I did a landscape at Los Poblanos fields. I went there each day, worked on the view with the Sandias in the background. This morning here I worked on the sky, giving it a wonderful light lemon yellow color. As I was packing up the car Friday, I noticed a particuliar cloud formation right above the Sandias. It was changing quickly, I took out the canvas, grabbed a piece of vine charcoal and quickly and lightly sketched in the cloud. It looks fine. The painting is pretty much done. I just have to wait for it to dry, then do few small touch ups.
