Have been working on the painting of the female nude - nice work, will be interesting to know how people will interpret it. I'm going to let it dry somewhat, then refine certain areas more. In the meantime.......
I purchased the lino sheet, and this morning drew out in charcoal the new female nude on that - looks good! Almost along the same motif of the painting. As I finish up the painting, I'll start work on the linocut. Looking forward to it.
Yesterday at Borders I purchased lieder by Mahler, Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, 5 Ruckert Lieder und Kindertotenlieder, those beautifully sung by Anne Sofie von Otter! Pierre Boulez and the Wiener Philharmoniker. Thomas Quasthoff and Violeta Urmana also do a fine job. These lieder, especially the Kindertotenlieder, are especially poignant, with so many young men and women sent senselessly over to Iraq. That sentiment was felt most strongly with In diesem Wetter, in diesem Braus.
I also ordered Das Lied von der Erde, Otto Klemperer with the VIenna Symphony Orchestra, Elsa Cavelti and Anton Dermota performing. Looking forward to hearing this recording.
Once I make a print from the lino block cut, I'll plan on heading up to Abiquiu, search around for a new landscape to do. I haven't been up there for a while, gorgeous area!!! Good to get away, do some exploring.
