I've prepared the plate here at home, so that's ready. Yesterday after spending some time at New Grounds, I went to the florist nearby and purchased one long stem rose. Last night I drew that on the graphite drawing, then drew that again on the tracing paper which I'll then transfer that self-portrait with a rose to the copper plate. I really think this work is going to be very strong, and I have in mind something special with it. The meaning of the print comes from the saying, "No rose without a thorn." In other words, there is no love or beauty without some pain. And it's so true.
